Perhaps you can gather from my headline that my date with “Paul” went very well on Friday night… We met at a German restaurant on the Lower East Side. When I arrived he was drinking a beer out of a giant glass boot – he had had a difficult day. I know the feeling. We ordered a meat and cheese plate, some more beer for me, and talked and talked and he held my hand. It was all very nice.

Then we moved on to another of his favorite places. It’s a Bulgarian bar not far from the German place. Now, I have heard about all the high jinks that occur at the Bulgarian bar: dancing on tables, crazy music, swinging from the rafters – lots of good times – but I had never been there. It was quite an experience! Not as crazy as I had expected, but I was there on the early side. I can only imagine what happens after midnight…

We found a little booth in the corner where we could watch the band. When we arrived there was a band already on, and they were kind of blues-y. Low key. Nice. After ordering a Bulgarian beer (it was alright, but I switched to Stella Artois after) we then ordered a hookah (!) and though I don’t smoke, we shared that. The second band brought a crowd with it, and their style of music was much more Middle Eastern. They were really great and played two sets. People were dancing all over and we ordered a second hookah and some more beer. With more beer, the kissing marathon began!

Fairly drunk, and with my inhibitions lowered, I invited him for DC’s Thanksgiving. He told me he had absolutely no plans for Thanksgiving yet, but he also did not jump on the invite. Hmmmm. Regardless, I’m glad I put it out there. I have a feeling that he will join me though. Call it a woman’s intuition.

As we left, we stopped for a slice of pizza to help sober up, and then I invited him back to my place. There was a lot of kissing (and more) thereafter…until 3pm Saturday afternoon! “Paul” is definitely someone I could get used to having around a lot more.

Yet, while all this is fun, I have been a bad student! I was so wrapped up in my dating adventures that I neglected to do my homework for my Copy Editing class!! I hope the teacher accepts it late! Oops!
