New York City Nights

I had a Brooklyn date last night.  My date, “Jack”, lives in my neighborhood so we met up for a beer at a local bar.  Yes, it was a first date on a Saturday night, which is a big no-no in my book, but since I had to cancel our plan for last Wednesday, I didn’t want to drag out our meeting any further.  He was available before heading to a dinner party, I was free in the evening as well, so it totally worked out.  And being able to walk over to the bar from my apartment and not have to deal with the subway was a plus for me.

He was very nice.  More attractive than I thought (that happens to be the case more often than not for the guys I meet – lucky for them!)  We talked about a lot of topics, music, wine, the neighborhood, work, travel, his hometown – there was never a quiet moment.  But I’m not sure the chemistry was there.  He was a good guy though – you can just tell.  He mentioned hanging out for a drink again, and I think I would meet up with him again – first, because he lives in my neighborhood.  Also, I believe in second chances.  First impressions are not always the best way to judge someone.  People are nervous, and first dates are always awkward, especially if they’re blind dates.

I have another date scheduled for this Wednesday night.  This one, “Paul”, is a lawyer, and he seems to be much more the professional-type.  He’s suggested cocktails in Soho.  We shall see…
